A base of matte black Japanese seed beads holds the composition with complete composure. Deep garnet glass rectangles anchor each shoulder, flanked by black floral beads with gold centres — decorative, but not trying. Amber and dark iridescent glass gather inward like a procession, two small bronze teardrops standing at attention on either side of the centrepiece: a copper coin pendant bearing the profile of a queen, her features worn to exactly the right degree of mystery. She has been here before. She is unbothered.
